My painting of Princess Midna, from the Nintendo Wii/Game Cube game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This is her true form from the end of the game, and a big spoiler, so hope you already know about it if you're looking.
This was a month in the making, mainly because it was pretty complicated to draw, but I finally finished it off. I used a stock photo from here for the pose, and a reference picture for her costume and details. I tried to get it as authentic as possible, but the inside of her cloak's not exactly how it's supposed to look, due to the annoying pattern it's got, so I made it all swirly like the outer pattern. But, the other patterns, like on her skirt and cloak, were fun to paint. I love her character design, it's original, classic, and surreal.
Anyway, yeah. Lineart drawn in Open Canvas, and coloured in Photoshop.
Thank you! Midn's one of the best characters in any video game. I loved how her character developed, from a bitch who only cared about her world, to someone that cared about the future of Hyrule, because without Hyrule, the Twilight Realm suffered. Even her tone of voice changed, from a haughty and snobby tone, to a more humbled stance. Like she accepted her role as the Twilight Princess, after she realised how much the fate of Hyrule depended on her Twilight Realm. Not many video game characters are that deep. I hope she'll be in another Zelda game! I also hope they'll make another Wii Zelda, because I loved TP, that I hope they make another realistic and darker Zelda storyline.
